Who we are

bigchild saw the light of day in 2019 and has been based in extremely idyllic Weimar ever since. Despite its young age, it is already producing a 3D animated TV series for KiKA and a 3D animated TV series called "Fieps, small sparrow – big city " for the renowned bedtime format "Sandmännchen".

The bigchild team focuses on the development and production of entertaining, original material for children and young adults with an emphasis on animation. Universal appeal and strong branding for an international audience are particularly important to them. However, with a broad-based creative team, they also offer all kinds of services in the field of animation.

Kai R. Schöttle

Producer

Kai worked for years as a commissioning editor and creative producer for international productions at the TV station KIKA. (The German equivalent of PBS KIDS.) He continued to work as a freelance artist for Turner Broadcasting, Nickelodeon, WDR, MDR and various production companies, developing animated series and films such as Guess How Much I Love You, Yakari, Ogglies, Lieselotte and many more. At bigchild he continues to focus on the development of original material for children and young adults with an emphasis on animated series.

Juliette Alfonsi

Creative Producer |
Head of Script Development

Juliette took her first steps in film at broadcaster Arte in the feature film editorial department. Afterwards, she built up the story development department at FFL in Ludwigsburg and worked for various productions for zdf, SWR and Pro7/sat.1. Here, she wrote scripts for commercials as well as award-winning projects such as "Die Reise des Elefanten Soliman". The fun of animated film led her to Mainframe Studios in Canada in 2019, where she oversaw Barbie's 3D animated YouTube vlog with 10 million subscribers. With her team as well as her U.S. clients at Mattel and KidzBop, she worked on a 70-minute 3D animated musical and 6 animated music videos. At bigchild, she has been working on the Kika series Maari since June 2021.

Jessica Hüttig

Head of 3D Look Development

Jessica holds a Bachelor Degree in Media Arts and Design from the Bauhaus-University Weimar and started working as a 3D Generalist at bigchild Entertainment in 2020. Her work spans the field of 3D Modeling, Sculpting, Shading, Texturing, Lighting and Rendering. Her passion is the realization of Concept Art into 3D Characters, Sets and Props and overcoming any challenges that arise.

Yilun Chen-Ceslik aka Heidi

2D & 3D Senior Animator

Heidi is a Senior 2D and 3D Artist with many years of experience in the film, advertising and games industry. In 1998 she started her career in 2D animation in Shanghai China, since 2002 she lives and works in Germany. In 2007 she got into 3D animation with Maya, then Blender and 3ds Max. Since then she has worked on numerous renowned productions such as Marsupilami, Little King Macius, Raven the Little Rascal I & II, The Seventh Dwarf, Marnie's World, Marco Polo, Fritzi and many more...Since 2021 Heidi is an animator at bigchild.

Thomas Hufnagl

Storyboarder & Concept Artist

Thomas studied industrial design in Regensburg and is a student at the Technical University in Nuremberg in the field of illustration/film animation. From April 2021 to September 2021 he completed his internship semester at bigchild, where he worked and gained experience in the areas of animation, character and prop design, as well as storyboarding. Especially in the latter he could prove his passion for storytelling. Since October 2021 he is working as a working student at bigchild as one of the storyboarders and concept designers.

Our Studio

Together with many up-and-coming companies from the creative industries, bigchild is based in the modern premises of the bauhaus factory. With its central location in the middle of the bauhaus University campus, "the factory" is an ideal attraction for young talent.
